How To

How to make an omelet that is perfect

Omelets is one of my favourite breakfast foods. How do you make them perfect? Many different recipes and methods have failed to work for me. So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

We should first know that eggs are very temperamental ingredients when making omelets. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. The yolks and whites will not form properly if they aren't kept cold enough. Your omelets will look strangely colored if this happens. If you're going to cook them immediately, it is best if the eggs are still warm.

You might also try separating the egg before adding to the pan. You don't want the white to get mixed with the yolk, as this could cause the egg to curdle.

If you add the egg directly onto the stovetop, you might end up burning the bottom part of the egg, which would ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, heat the egg in a microwave for 10 seconds and then place it in a pan. The microwave heat cooks your egg just right, without it becoming too soft.

Let's now talk about mixing eggs. Mix eggs well together. Turn the bowl upside down and grab the whisk to do this. Next, shake the bowl vigorously. This way, the air inside the bowl gets whipped around and mixes the egg thoroughly.

Now it's time to have fun: pour the milk into the mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. Do not worry if you see streaks of egg; they will disappear when the omelet is flipped.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. When the oil is hot enough, add 1/4 cup butter to the pan. Stir it around until the butter covers the entire pan. Carefully open the pan's lid and add salt to the pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Once the omelet has formed completely, cover the pan and let it set for a few minutes. Use a spatula to flip the omelet or turn the pan upside-down. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Remove the omelet from the pan and serve immediately.

This recipe works best with whole milk, but skimmed milk also works.
